While it looks like I’ve been inactive on my blog this year, I’ve been anything but.
Through the process of creating this blog, I realized that my new digital headquarters really needs to be YouTube. YouTube has a far greater potential to reach my target audience, and even has the possibility of monetization for my content. That said, there’s still value in this blog. It has contains more than a hundred of my old fishing reports from the past several years, which I’m proud of. I’m just rebooting it with a new name, new URL, and new content that will generally be synchronized with my new YouTube channel. The two will now compliment each other.
As for the name, “Mini Montauk Adventures” is somewhat limiting, because not all of my adventures happen on my boat. I’m also concerned about possible copyright complaints, and what if I ever get a different boat? The new name and URL now match that of my YouTube channel, also called Salish Sea Safari. Because you are my subscriber, you will be among the first to know about it.
At this point, I’m going to stop and ask you a favor. If you happen to view my YouTube channel at this early stage, I’d like to ask one thing from you: If you watch a video, please watch it all the way through. If I direct a bunch of friends and family there who aren’t my target audience, and they all watch 30 seconds of each video out of curiosity and then click away, the YouTube algorithm will think that my content sucks and it won’t promote it anymore. So, if you’re not seriously interested in my content, then don’t watch it. If you do watch it, I’m really not offended if you go and fold your laundry in another room while it plays. Please just play it through until the end. Here’s the link:

I’ve now got a huge backlog of video footage from last season, enough for probably 15-20 videos, and have finished editing several already. I’ve also written reports for as many blog posts, which will get posted here when the related YouTube video posts. The reports contain a lot more detail then you’ll ever seen in the video. Because of this, I’m now able to crank out material almost weekly for a while. I’ve worked very hard this year to learn videography and video editing, and to get a lot better at storytelling. I’ve also purchased new camera gear. In short, there’s a lot of exciting things coming soon. Thanks for your patience and your loyalty. I look forward to sharing my journey with you in the coming year.
